Gosalyn Mallard, adopted daughter of Drake Mallard (AKA Darkwing Duck) had an unusual upbringing. She often accompanied her father on many of his crime-fighting misadventures, usually against his will. She even helped to take down some of the most nefarious villains ever to blight the maligned city of St. Canard.

This trend went on for many years, though middle and eventually high school. As her natural athleticism, coupled with her skills as an amateur crimefighter, l led her to pursue more sports-related extra-curricular activities, her nightlife calmed down some. With her genius childhood friend Honker, she led a somewhat isolated childhood, never really making friends. After all, what do you have in common with your average student when most of the people you know wear costumes and shoot death rays at one another? But with a loving father, the jovial Uncle-like Launchpad, and her best friend, her life was relatively uneventful.

In her freshman year of High School, Darkwing duck became more distracted and pensive. He consulted Gosalyn on a very important manner. After years of dancing around the issue, Drake wanted to share his life, and his secret identity, with long-time on-again-off-again girlfirned Morgana McCawber. Knowing how lonely the night life could be, and Morgana's own affection for her father, she gave Drake her blessing. A few months later Morgana Mallard entered their home as Gosalyn's new mother.

Having spent years living with Drake and Gosalyn, the new addition to the family cause Launchpad to see out a new place to live. Not jealous of upset, Launchpad had also grown increasingly worried about his hero DW's mental state. But married to the love of his life, Darkwing became even more focused on his work, having both a wife and daughter to protect. And better yet, Morgana's affection had an effect on Darkwings ego, softening him, humbling him. He became the hero the city always deserved.

With her father spending more time at home and taking far fewer risks, Gosalyn spent even less time fighting crime. She expended that extra energy training on her own. Morgana, seeing her efforts, started to teach Gosalyn a little magic. She wasn't naturally inclined to it, but did learn a few simple illusions which she used to create smoke and mask her presence.

Honker spent more time with Launchpad, learning to fix the various machines, and even starting to develop more crime-fighting gizmos for Darkwing. Launchpad took Honker under his wing and started to teach him how to fly. Honker to to it, and soon was flying with fewer crashes than even Launchpad. The rest of his time was spent tutoring Goslalyn who constantly struggled to keep up with her schoolwork. In the years following, their friendship blossomed into something more, and by their senior year the two were dating. Gosalyn was still a troublemaker, getting into fights with bullies, but being distracted with a boyfriend helped mellow her out.

Gosalyn graduated with honors, with Honkers help, of course. She was able to get into the same college as Honker, St. Canard U, a prestigious college (On an athletic scholarship, of course). She made new friends, spent time with her man, and even enjoyed her studies (Both academic and magical). It seemed like she had the perfect life.

Until the incident...

Years had passed in relative peace in St. Canard. Many of Darkwing's greatest villains had remained locked away for years. And his greatest foe, Negaduck hadn't been seen in almost a decade. But that all changed when Negaduck returned with a vengeance. Opting to break away from the Fearsome Five, he returned with a Negaverse version of the Justice Ducks. With Morganega, Gadgetduck, Rexmutt, and Nepunega, the Injustice Duck attacked and nearly overwhelmed the city in a night. Calling forth his own team to thwart the villains, Darkwing lead the charge against his nefarious negative nemesis. There was a devastating cost.

While the Injustice Ducks were defeated, much of St. Canard was destroyed. In a final bid to remove the threat, Morgana constructed a spell to send the Injustice Ducks into another dimension where they would cease to be a threat. But Morganega countered with her own spell, and the resulting magical spell opened up a portal that made three city blocks vanish into nothing, leaving only a perfectly smooth spherical crater in its place. No once knows whether they were destroyed or sent somewhere else. The only three to survive the Incident were Launchpad, Neptunia and Negaduck who escaped to continue his crimewave. The rift also opened a hole in the side of the St. Canard Maximum Security Prison, releasing Darkwing's most deadly foes,

Once more an Orphan, Gosalyn found herself alone in the world again. But with Launchpad and Honker's help, she managed to finish her first year of college. Once the funeral arrangements had been made, Gosalyn was startled by her father's will.

Drake was rich. Having inherited a fortune from his father, a billionaire philanthropist, Drake made smart investments with some advice from Launchpad's former employer Scrooge McDuck. How else was he able to fight crime full time, on S.H.U.S.H.'s government salary? He had tucked the money away and lived simply in the suburbs to give Gos the best possible life in case his superheroing one day got him killed. He instructed that Launchpad keep an eye out for her, and that she finish college. His only wish is that she didn't take up the mantle of Darkwing Duck and follow in his footsteps.

However, having trained all her life in Darkwing's Shadow, trained in the art of illusion, and backed up with Honker's brilliant inventions, Gosalyn could not honor Drake's final wishes.

Since then Gosalyn has been living a double life. By day a mild-mannered college student, athlete, and girlfriend....and by night she stalks the rooftops of St. Canard as the Terror who Flaps in the night. With her trusty pilot and sidekick Honker at her side, she keeps the city safe, and always on the lookout for Negaduck, and a way to get her family back.
